Our Romantic Escape At The Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa
Our stay at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa was both an exceptional and unforgettable one and we will definitely return for another weekend of romance in the near future. Upon arrival we were greeted by a welcoming and cheery door staff and check-in at the front desk was smooth and educational. The front desk was extremely knowledgeable about the services offered by the hotel and explained everything in detail and answered any questions we had.
We were happy to hear our room would be on the 6th floor and included the ModeClub access on the 3rd floor which featured a daily continental breakfast and evening appetizers. It was convenient and quite a treat to be able to have a few hor d’oeuvres before dinner time and then wake up to a scrumptious selection of tasty muffins, pastries, fruits, cereals and more. Our room was lovely and perfect for a much needed break away together as a couple. The linens were rich in red and white which almost gave the room a Valentine’s Day feel and there were some fabulous in-room amenities.
As it was a weekend escape we arrived a bit late on the Friday evening and took a nice stroll along the waterfront before relaxing back in the room. I loved the bed pillows at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort as they are the type of pillows you can just lay back, relax and sink into. For us, a weekend of romance also includes ultimate relaxation, so our room was cozy and ideal for what we were looking for.
The next morning we woke up to glorious views of Victoria’s Inner Harbour and sunshine and made our way down to the 3rd flood for breakfast treats and coffee. We sat on the outside patio while we ate and made sure we protected our food from the sneaky giant seagull that was perched nearby. A few other tourists weren’t so lucky and the sneaky seagull got away with a feast!
Victoria is the perfect place to escape with your love as there is so much to do and so many opportunities for intimate moments, fun and romance. Make sure you plan to visit in the summer where you can explore places like Thetis Lake and Goldstream Park like we did. Thetis Lake was a fabulous place to take your beach stuff and park or hike through hills, trees and rocks.
After a day of hiking hills, sun tanning and enjoying nature to the fullest we returned to the hotel to shower and relax a bit before our luxury couples massage that was booked for 4pm. When we arrived at the luxury spa we were given the standard health questionnaire that everyone fills out before any treatments are performed. We enjoyed some thirst-quenching cucumber water before meeting our masseuses.
My masseuse was Karl and he was very informative with how the experience would be before we started. I enjoyed propping the little hot stones underneath my sore shoulders as I laid on my stomach. My beau Shaun was next to me and undergoing his own introduction to the massage. It was a very relaxing and soothing experience and it was nice that Shaun and I could share such an intimate moment together.
I would recommend this treatment for couples in longer term relationships as dating couples may not be completely comfortable with being half naked under a towel together. But that depends on what type of couple you are doesn’t it?! After our 60 minute relaxing and rejuvenating massages we were escorted by our masseuses to the tranquil sitting room area once again and enjoyed some chocolate covered strawberries that were laid out for us and more refreshing cucumber water. It is definitely a romantic ‘must-do’ when you stay at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa. Your body and mind will thank you for it!
We then head up to the 3rd floor ModeClub and enjoyed a few tasty evening appetizers like chicken wings, mini sausage rolls, egg rolls and more. There were a selection of complimentary pops and alcoholic drinks available to purchase. These tasty little morsels definitely filled our hunger gap before getting ready for dinner.
We were so relaxed after our massages that we wanted to just absorb the sensation and requested that our dinner reservation be moved to 8:30pm instead of 7:30pm which ended up being fine with the restaurant.
LURE Restaurant is located on-site and just off the main lobby and also has a lounge area if you want to sip cocktails with your love. We made our way down to the restaurant and just loved the way we were greeted and cared for by our server. We were given a beautiful table that offered phenomenal views of the Inner Harbour and parliament buildings. I wish I remembered our server’s name, but the introduction went pretty fast and onto the specials so I missed it. She was lovely and explained every appetizer and main to us, including specials that weren’t featured on the main menu. Every time she came up when we were holding hands and doing that “gaze into each other’s eyes” thing, she said, ‘I just don’t want to interrupt this!’ She was a sweetheart.
Our waitress explained a variety of main dishes to us and even a few off the menu such as Baby Back Ribs with a corn and bacon mash mix which I tried and loved, but cannot explain in detail. Shaun went for the Baby Back Ribs and I decided on the Grilled Pork Tenderloin with fresh tagliatteli, cambozola cream, pine nuts and apricot-carrot chutney. Our server mentioned to me that it was a pasta dish and that if I didn’t like the pasta part of it I could alter the dish to suit my dining needs. I thought that was quite unique as many chefs do not always want to change their signature dishes. Instead of the pasta I received a lovely plate of pork tenderloin, fresh steamed vegetables and tasty butter crusted potatoes.
We were getting to the point of being full because we sampled three appetizers and gobbled up our mains, but we kept strong and decided to try a decadent dessert. I ended up having a flambé banana dessert with vanilla wafers, butter toast ice cream, genuine honeycomb and more. I was delighted and this was recommended by our server as it was a special for the night. Anything tropical works for this gals palate. Shaun decided on the Caramelized Lemon Tart with Italian meringue and blueberry-thyme compote which he enjoyed and savoured.
Our dining experience at Lure Restaurant was a night to remember, not only for the mouth-watering cuisine and friendly staff, but for the romantic ambiance it offers. Returning to our room on the 6th floor, we put our feet up and watched some local TV shows only to fall into a deep slumber with relaxed tense-free bodies, satisfied tummies and a general Delta glow.
