Our Personal Dining Experience
Before we entered the restaurant, we took advantage of the excellent location, strolled along the Dundarave Pier and checked out all of the Christmas trees that had been put up and decorated by various companies. There was also a nice beachfront area that would be fantastic to sit upon in the warmer months.
The Beachhouse Restaurant overlooks all of this beauty and we could see how the experience of sitting on a heated patio overlooking the ocean, sipping tropical cocktails and catching a warm sienna sunset would attract large crowds throughout the year. We arrived at night and from the end of the pier, the restaurant was glowing with warm inviting lights, making the restaurant a cozy escape on a cold winter evening.
Just before we arrived at the door we stopped to look at the German Friendship Globe which is 2.5 tons of granite floating on a thin layer of pressurized water. It was a unique experience to witness this mysterious artistic display and it is fabulous that this mini-attraction is right outside the restaurant’s doors.
We were greeted with smiles and happy vibes at the door and given a table with a great view of tropical palms, colourful lights and again, the German Friendship Globe. Our server was Hillary who was highly efficient, friendly and helpful with offering tasty recommendations.
The wine list offers enormous variety, from exotic international red and white wines to zinfandels and bubbly options. I enjoyed a glass of the Callia Malbec 2013, San Juan, Argentina while my husband ordered a Beachhouse Pale Ale.

We started with two fabulous appetizers, the Baked Crab and Cheese Dip and the Tuna Poke Nachos. The nachos are truly unique and I have to admit, I have never tried anything like them before. They were extremely tasty and I thank Brittany for recommending them to us before we arrived. The nachos had the perfect blend of sweet and savoury touches and the toppings were so fresh and zesty that we couldn’t help ourselves and ate every last bite. The Baked Crab and Cheese Dip is also a winner because of how creamy and flavourful it is. Our only suggestion would be to serve a little more of it to match with the amount of crostinis you receive. All in all, our first course was scrumptious!
It was a Friday night so it was definitely a full house and a bit loud, but you get used to it within a few minutes of being there. Everyone seated around us was having a great time and I only saw happy positive people enjoying time with family, co-workers and best buddies.

For our mains, we ordered the North Pacific Sablefish and the Ling Cod. The Sablefish came with a maple soy glaze, soba noodles, shitake mushrooms and dashi broth which was the perfect combination of ingredients to make this dish stick out. It is one of those dishes that you never want to end. YUM!

The Pacific Ling Cod sat upon a bed of coconut rice and a wonderful mix of mushrooms, greens and peppers. I didn’t eat too much of this dish as I was busy enjoying my Sablefish. Both dishes were beautifully presented and featured bright colours and flavours.

When it came to dessert time, we were pretty full, but decided to treat our taste buds to a little decadence. I ordered the Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble with vanilla bean gelato and almond crisp which was a fantastic melt-in-your-mouth end to my meal. My husband has a great love for chocolate so he immediately zoomed in on the Chocolate Hazelnut Bar with salted caramel, Callebaut chocolate ganache, feuilletine flakes, crunchy mandarin orange, candy snap tuille and vanilla bean gelato. He was in chocolate heaven as it was so rich and creamy and it definitely hit the sweet spot!
In a Nutshell
This was one of those dining experiences that you want to do over and over again. The ambiance was warm and friendly, the staff was professional and warm, and the views are phenomenal. Dine with friends, a first date or relax with co-workers after a stressful day. Being a popular all-season restaurant venue, allows the Beachhouse Restaurant to remain a hot spot all year long.
