If you are looking for the perfect outdoor family activity this holiday season, make sure you stop by the Canyon Lights event at Vancouver’s much-adored Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. There are a variety of activities to get involved with and participate in, as well as many beautiful lights to observe. Grab your camera’s, grab your family and go and join the fun this year!
Claiming to be the home of the world’s tallest living Douglas-fir Christmas tree at 152 feet tall, this park is covered with thousands of sparkling bright lights at every turn and crossing the bridge is truly a unique experience that speaks for itself.

Since it is already dark out when this event kicks off at 4pm daily, the bridge crossing experience offers a sense of magic and mystique. After you cross the bridge and make your way throughout various other areas of the park, you will see that the entire park has been turned into a winter wonderland where the Treetop Adventures and other various trails have been beautifully decorated and outlined with sparkling lights.

The Canyon Lights event is best enjoyed with family and friends and offers all kinds of holiday activities. Enjoy watching the art of glass blowing or attend a work shop with famous art glass artist, Malcolm Macfadyen and make your own icicle or colourful ornament.
Sing carols with the holiday band, participate in a scavenger hunt and decorate (and eat!) delicious gingerbread cookies with your little ones. Head over to the park’s newest attraction, CLIFFWALK where you can truly test you courage and see the fabulously lit staircases, trees and walkways. If you get hungry while in the park, stop by the Loggers Grill for a snack or the parks newest addition, the Capilano Coffee Company for a warm hot chocolate drink.
If you feel like shopping for some holiday gifts, the Trading Post is the perfect stop where you will find Canadian souvenirs, jewelry, clothing, fudge treats and more!
The wonderful holiday spirit of giving is very much present when you attend the Canyon Lights event running from November 30th, 2013 to January 4th, 2014. (with the exception of December 25th, Christmas Day)
When you visit the park, you and your family will also be donating some of your admission fees to the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund and you will also be supporting local charities such as Kids Up Front, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Lower Mainland, The Special Olympics of BC, Easter Seals, Canuck Place and the North Shore neighbourhood House.
