Top 10 Summer Activities in Vancouver

Is it hot out? And you are wondering what you can do to keep you and your friends entertained? Why not try one of the top 10 activities listed below and get out into the sunshine. Vancouver has beautiful summers and there is always something to do on a hot summer’s day. People flock to the beaches, parks and to the seawall. Get out there and have some fun this summer!

Volleyball on Kitsilano Beach

Go and play some beach volleyball with your friends on Kitsilano Beach. Visitors and locals travel to this beach every summer to play volleyball, suntan and hang out all day with their friends. It also has an outdoor pool for everyone to enjoy on a hot day.

Lunch at the Boathouse Restaurant

The Boathouse Restaurant is located at 1795 Beach Avenue, right on English Bay. It has fabulous summer cocktails and food specials, as well as views of the whole English Bay area. It’s always busy, so you are bound to make some new friends. Call the restaurant at 604-669-2225 or visit www.boathouserestaurants.ca.

Stanley Park Picnic

Head to Stanley Park for a picnic with friends, a date, or your family. Vancouver’s Stanley Park has a large amount of picnic space for everyone to enjoy. Some areas are close to the waterfront while some other areas are more remote.

The Seawall

Go for a walk along the seawall with a friend. It is the best way to get some exercise, catch up on things, and get some vitamin D. It stretches from one end of the city to the other and it is always full of pets, bikers, joggers, speed walkers and more.

The Grouse Grind

Up for a challenge? Climb the Grouse Grind on a sunny day and challenge yourself to this steep hill. Make sure you are in a healthy state for this type of exercise as it can be exhausting and it is considered as strenuous exercise.

The Vancouver Aquatics Centre

Take the kids to the Aquatic Centre for the day. It features a gym, sauna, indoor pool, spa and so much more. You will be able to get some exercise while the tots cool off in the gigantic pool.

If you have a sailboat or any other type of boat, why not take it out onto English Bay for the day? Take some friends and go boating for a few hours. Or bring snacks and drinks and go further out onto the ocean for some fishing fun.

Swimming at Second Beach

Families love to take their kids to this beach for the day. You can get a cooler together of snacks and cold drinks, or you can buy a hot dog, snacks and ice cream from the nearby kiosk. Wear sun block and have fun in the sun!

Granville Island

Take your family or go with friends to Granville Island for the day. Enjoy a kids market, a food and craft market, Bridges Restaurant, a Kaboodles Toy Store, the Sand Bar restaurant, music, and so much more!

Spanish Banks

Sit and sip a cold drink on the beach at secluded Spanish Banks. This space is for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of other crowded beaches. Spanish Banks is more of a hidden gem to travelers, so you might find it very secluded. Perfect!
