Economy proves to be Ritz cracker

ritz-crackerThe $500-million Ritz-Carlton Hotel/condo development on West Georgia has been shelved.

The first 20 floors were to have been occupied by a 127-room hotel with 123 luxury condos taking up the top 40 floors with price ranges from $1-million to $28-million. Those who had bought in will get their deposit back.

What would have been one of the coolest looking buildings in Vancouver (lets face it, we aren’t exactly Shanghai) is nothing more than a hole in the ground.  Arthur Erickson’s design would have brought some much needed architectural eye-candy to the cityscape.
