Whistler / Blackcomb

Known as the most popular luxury ski resort in British Columbia, Whistler Blackcomb has been voted by Ski Magazine as one of the top 5 ski locations in all of North America because of its exciting nightlife, posh accommodations, fancy dining, amazing snow, hot trails, spectacular events and extensive terrain. Whistler and Blackcomb used to be separate from one another, and merged into one huge mega-resort in 1997. Intrawest Resorts manages and runs Whistler-Blackcomb, and between them the mountains boast the largest vertical drop in North America. Whistler’s drop is approximately 1530 metres while Blackcomb is a bit higher at 1564 metres.

The most important terrain begins in the middle of the mountains which are accessible by ski lifts and gondolas. Both mountains share a gondola that is open to all skiers at the base of Whistler Village. There are loads of restaurants, bars and hotels for all to enjoy while taking a ski break or attending one of the large events or festivals that Whistler-Blackcomb hosts every year. Many people choose to live in this popular ski town, and vacation homes and condo homes are correspondingly extremely expensive. Look forward to the 2010 Winter Olympics when events such as bobsleigh, luge, skeleton and men and women’s slalom will be hosted at Whistler Blackcomb.  Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails, mountain biking, heli-skiing and more at this popular British Columbia ski location.
