West Vancouver

The city of West Vancouver is a great area to live in and explore. It is more expensive than other areas in Vancouver, but definitely a great community to raise a family in. Part of Metro Vancouver, West Vancouver is situated on the North Shore and it is the birthplace of the first shopping mall in Canada, known as the Park Royal Shopping Plaza and Centre. This huge mall has loads of stores of all sizes to suit any budget including Winners, Home Depot, The Body Shop, Sears and London Drugs. They also hold yearly events such as the Hot Rod Car Show and Bed Races for all to enjoy.

West Vancouver is home to the West Vancouver Yacht Club which has over 700 members. Apart from the strip of commercial development along scenic Marine Drive, West Vancouver is mostly a suburban area in nature with some high rises by the water and beautiful single-family homes rising up the slopes to the ultra-toney British Properties neighbourhood. It also has loads of family-friendly restaurants and quaint shops and is home to the BC Ferries terminal at Horseshoe Bay. If you are visiting West Vancouver make sure you take the Ambleside Park tour, which will take you along the waterfront and provide you with phenomenal views of Vancouver’s famous landmark, the Lion’s Gate Bridge.
