Vancouver Bars on a Budget

If you are looking to get out, but find that some of the bars and clubs in Vancouver are too pricy, here is where you might look instead. There are lots of bars that you can go to that will not break your bank or overcharge your credit card! Vancouver has a wide selection of places that are not as expensive as the rest and you only have to look out for them as you are searching through the Georgia Straight newspaper or online. Here is a list of some of the “budget bars” in Vancouver.

The Shark Club
Close to GM Place and BC Place Stadium, the Shark Club is located at 180 Georgia Street. They have a friendly staff, cheap appetizer deals and great dance nights. Call them at 604-687-4275 or visit www.sharkclubs.com for menu information and other locations.

The DogHouse Sports Lounge and Grill
Located at 118 Robson Street, this fun sports bar is truly great for people traveling or dining on a budget. You can choose from 12 types of beer, eat cheap but tasty food and watch the Vancouver Canucks or BC Lions. Call 604-688-5840 for more information on their menu and events.

Speak Easy
Located at 921 Granville Street, this hip place is not too expensive for the regular Joe.  It might look expensive, but you can find deals on food and drinks. Yaletown Brewery
This cool hangout is a great spot to sit and enjoy some excellent appetizers with friends. They always have a fun selection of music and hosted events and they celebrate all special holidays. They have a great selection of dishes that range anywhere from $6 to $25 and they always have deals on house-brewed beer. Stepho’s Greek Tavern
While it might be a restaurant/bar, there is still a great selection of cheap wine and beer for you to enjoy. Located at 1124 Davie Street, this place is convenient and always EXTREMELY busy. You might have to wait in line before you share some drinks with your friends, but the food is worth it! Call 604-683-2555 for more information and hours of operation.

Loose Moose Tapas Bar and Grill
The Loose Moose is a very popular bar to hang out at and it is not that expensive. You can listen to music, watch a game on TV and buy some cheap tapas snacks.  They have a cool late evening menu on some days featuring cheaper food and beer. It is a place where you can relax and catch up with your closest friends, located at 724 Nelson Street (just off Granville Street) and you can reach the bar at 604-633-1002 for more information.

DIX BBQ and Brewery
Located at 871 Beatty Street, the DIX BBQ and brewery is known for its southern style ribs and other dishes. People can also enjoy sides such as creamed corn and baked beans. Visitors receive free peanuts to munch on. Call 604-682-2739 for more information and hours of operation.

Malone’s Bar and Grill
Located close to the beach in Kitsilano, this festive bar has a tasty cheap menu to suit any budget. It is close to everything and located at 2210 Cornwall Street.
