Vancouver Canucks
Based in Vancouver, the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks hold all their home games at GM Place. General Motors Place (GM Place) can hold over 18,620 fans, and every game has been sold out for years. In 1970, the Vancouver Canucks first joined the National Hockey League in the Northwest Division. The team has made it to the Stanley Cup Finals twice before, but were taken down by the New York Rangers in 1994 and the New York Islanders in 1982. The team plays 82 regular games a season and then (hopefully) moves on to the playoffs. The regular season runs from early October to the middle of April, exhibition games are usually held before the season in the month of September and the playoffs are usually held late April to the middle of June.
Professional hockey itself has been loved in Vancouver by locals and visitors alike since 1911, when the old Vancouver Millionaires used to play. Now, every year people get together at local sports pubs and bars to watch the Vancouver Canucks play. Some of the best places to watch games are at the Yaletown Brewery, the Shark Club, Malone's Bar and Grill, Doolin's Irish Pub and the Loose Moose in downtown Vancouver.
