Granville Island

Just over the Granville Street Bridge you will find one of the most popular neighbourhoods in all of Vancouver. Granville Island is a family-friendly attraction that is loved by all age groups and thousands of people head to this area every day to enjoy all it has to offer. You can easily catch an Aquabus from False Creek or various other downtown spots, or catch a bus over the bridge, or even walk. It is close to everything in the area, such as the South Granville and Kitsilano neighbourhoods.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of shops, restaurants, museums and craft stores. If you want to enjoy the view of downtown and sip a few cold ones with your friends then you could go to Bridges Restaurant or Sandbar Seafood Restaurant. Both of them have patios where you can take in the scenic views and enjoy the sun on a warm summer’s day. If you are looking to stay on Granville Island you can book a room at the cozy Granville Island Hotel which boasts the Dockside Restaurant, rooms with a view and an excellent staff.

Take the kids to the kid’s market located right next to the pond at the entrance to Granville Island. They can make crafts, play with toys and mingle with the other kids while having fun. There is another market for all ages where visitors can buy fresh seafood, vegetables, crafts, fruits and much more. If you happen to like trains there is also a miniature train museum to check out. The island is open 7 days a week, usually from 9am to 7pm. There is no entrance fee and there are a wide variety of events and festivals held here throughout the year. A trip to Vancouver is simply not complete without a visit to Granville Island!
