Our Personal Experience

We really enjoyed our visit to the Walnut Beach Resort. It is the perfect resort to stay at if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and relax in a warm and tropical place. (And still be within British Columbia!) With a private beach, sparkling clean pool, BBQs, a wine bar, onsite restaurant and fully equipped studios and suites, you can’t go wrong! The front desk team was professional and friendly when we arrived and they were very helpful if we had any questions about the local area.

When we stepped into our 625-foot Sauvignon One-Bedroom Suite, we were pleased to see all of the convenient amenities and features. It was ideal for a small family as it had a king size bed and a pull-out sofa bed. Our son, 3, (who is way past sleeping in a crib) was still able to cuddle up and be cosy in the crib provided. We loved the fully stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, stainless steel appliances, large fridge and more. It was very helpful to have the kitchen while travelling with a toddler as we could prepare some healthy meals.

The suite also had a bathroom that connected to the bedroom and main living area and there was a nice deep tub to relax in after a day of swimming and exploring. There was also a small balcony with some beautiful mountain and beach town views. The gas fireplace definitely came in handy after swimming and in the evenings after we had been in the sun all day. There was a lot of natural light in the suite as well.

We went to the pool a few times, which has a wonderful view of the beach, mountains, and Lake Osoyoos. Our son loved splashing around in the pool and we enjoyed some genuine outdoor family time. We didn’t get to try the Vista Point Grill Restaurant on the property, but we did hear many good things about it.

A Superb Location

The Walnut Beach Resort is perfectly situated in Osoyoos and is close to everything you could ever need or want to do in the area. We went to the NK’ MIP Desert Cultural Centre and walked among the rattlesnakes. (Well, we didn’t see any but there were warning signs everywhere!) We saw a Gopher snake though, which my husband thought was cool. (I did not, ha!)

We took long walks along Main Street and visited Rattlesnake Canyon’s huge windmill ice cream shop. (See our son enjoying a refreshing mango scoop below) This amazing shop offers 48 different flavours and while the price might be $4 for one scoop, the scoops are massive! There is a new Jack Shaw Splash Park available for water babies, but unfortunately we could not visit as we were enjoying swimming at the resort and being close to our ‘home away from home.’

In a Nutshell

We were extremely happy with our stay at the Walnut Beach Resort, the quality of the accommodations, the friendly service and we will definitely return again. The one-bedroom suite was perfect for our little family. The Walnut Beach Resort offered us the perfect opportunity to escape from Vancouver city life, explore tropical Osoyoos and breathe.
