Things To Do When Staying At The Delta Whistler Village Suites Include:

Our Family Stay and Experience at the Delta Whistler Village Suites

Our stay at the Delta Whistler Village Suites was definitely something we will do again. It was the perfect hotel stay for a family of five visiting the beautiful destination of Whistler, British Columbia. Complete with everything we needed to feel at home, the hotel was charming with a welcoming feel and the staff were extremely friendly.

Upon arrival we were checked in quickly and given directions to the underground secure parking facilities and our suite. Ewen, one of the knowledgeable and kind front desk staff members, gave the kids three little bags with kid-friendly gadgets to welcome them. They were thrilled and it kept them busy for awhile when we first entered our suite.

We were provided with a spacious and cozy two bedroom suite, complete with one king size bed, two twins and a pull-out sofa bed. The girls, ages 11 and 13, loved the fact that they had their own room far away from their younger brother and also enjoyed the fact that it felt like they were staying on their own with their own sink, robes, LCD TV, microwave and bathroom. We had the master bedroom with a comfortable bed covered in plush pillows, a duvet and a large LCD TV. The boy, age 10, was extremely happy to sleep on the pull-out sofa bed and have his own TV as well.

Our room featured two bathrooms including showers and we also had a private balcony with the glorious view of the Peak 2 Peak experience. You could even catch some sun on the balcony and it was the best place to sit having a morning coffee and breakfast.

As we arrived quite late the first night we didn’t do much except walk through the village and explore a bit. The kids played at the playground by the Olympic symbol statue and we took various photos of the bright and cheery village area

On day two, we left the suite at around 11am to experience Whistler Blackcomb’s Peak 2 Peak Alpine adventure. The Peak 2 Peak links the summits of the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains and the Peak 2 Peak gondola is the largest supported lift in the world.

It was up there on my travel to-do list and we traveled sky-high on the gondola from the Whistler Gondola base for about 30 minutes before we reached the top. We were all excited when we saw what we thought was a black bear and a baby bear on one of the hills as we climbed higher in the gondola.

100_3101We then explored the surrounding trails at the top and saw a lot of snow, had a few snowball wars and then jumped aboard the Peak 2 Peak across to Whistler Blackcomb which took approximately 15 minutes. It was breathtaking and the views were phenomenal.

If you plan a trip to Whistler, this is definitely a must-do and it is a fantastic activity for the whole family.

After we made it down off the gondola and arrived back in Whistler Village, we went for lunch at El Furniture Warehouse where we enjoyed some tasty appetizers and burgers at $4.95 a dish. The sun was shining, people were smiling and the village was bustling.

100_3135 We then head over to the Family Adventure Zone where the kids tried out the WestCoaster Luge ride and had a little thrill. I think they wished it had gone a lot faster, but they still had a great time shooting down the slide.

We then made our way back to the Delta Whistler Village Suites and got ready to go to the pool and have some splish splashin’ fun. The kids swam for hours and played some pool games of their own while my beau, Shaun and I sat and relaxed on the sun chairs.

100_3145The pool area was a bit busy that day as some larger groups were staying at the hotel and there were also two bachelorette (hen) party groups by the pool as well. We found it much quieter the next day (Sunday) at the pool as it seemed most of the groups had left.

We prepared a few meals in our room which certainly helped with cost and we found it helpful to bring a cooler with some of our own snacks and items that we could make an easy meal with. While it is great to splurge when on vacation, Whistler Village can be quite pricy, so if eating out with a family of 4 or more, don’t be surprised when you receive a bigger bill at the end of the meal. Bring snacks and juice boxes to keep the kids replenished and hydrated at all times when you are visiting Whistler. I am not sure if it was the elevation and the Peak 2 Peak experience, but everyone in our family became very thirsty afterwards and it was a lifesaver when the housekeeping service at the hotel showed up with water bottles and chocolates in the evenings.

My Final Thoughts

I would stay at the Delta Whistler Village Suite again in a heartbeat as the room rates are affordable for families, the property is immaculate and safe for kids, the staff are extremely warm and friendly and the luxury hotel itself offers fantastic views of the famed Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.

Everything you need while staying at the Delta Whistler Village Suites is within your room and everything you need while visiting Whistler is right out your front door. I would recommend the Delta Whistler Village Suites to anyone that requires a luxury hotel with a ‘home away from home’ feel while visiting one of the most famous ski destinations in Canada.
